About

I’m an award-winning journalist, writer, editor and strategic communicator based in London, with eight years of experience in the media.

I’m currently a columnist at Hyphen. I have worked with The Guardian, The New York Times, Vogue, The Independent, gal-dem (RIP), Novara Media, DAZED, THE FACE and many more publications. You can view my extended portfolio here.

Passionate about politics and social justice, I work full-time in Parliament as a Communications Officer to an MP.

I’m a co-founder of hothouse bookclub — a London-based digital and in-person book club with over 300 members.

Previously, I was Senior Editor at The Lead and Digital Comms Officer at Central Saint Martins. I also served as Editor at ACT Climate Labs, focusing on strategic climate communications, and from 2020 to 2023, I was gal-dem’s Opinion Editor and later its Climate Editor, until it sadly closed.

In my spare time, I continue to freelance as a writer, editor, reporter, host, speaker and broadcaster, having previously hosted Broccoli Book Club and the award-winning Your Broccoli Weekly.

If you’d like to commission me or contact me about an exciting project, email diyora.shadijanova@gmail.com. Please note, I almost never accept unpaid work or speaking requests.
